It Can Change was an artists collaborative founded by Anthony Marcellini which produced interventions, performances and artworks between 2000 and 2004.  During a residency at Temescal Amity Works in Oakland California, members of It Can Change held a series of open-ended meetings and one-on-one conversations aimed broadly at “changing the local environment.” Temescal Amity Works was itself a long-term project by Ted Purves and Suzanne Cockrell that turned an Oakland storefront into a community crossroads known by some to be art-oriented, and by others as a place to pick up free fruit and jam. Artists were invited to use the space to make projects; It Can Change extended the invitation to artists and non-artists, making only conversation.
