In Balloon Route (2010) Michael Parker reflects on his travels seeking utopia in all its partial realizations: a communal apartment building in Berlin; the single active remaining Shaker village in Maine; a body-temperature swimming pool in Auroville, India, and a Women’s Collective in Mumbai, among many others.  The book contains factual firsthand accounts, fictions, and myths, revealing the role of narrative in generating Utopia, which in its Latin root means “no place.”
