Under the ADC brand (the Art of Downloadable Craft), Imin Yeh produced a 144-piece paper mahjong set, which can be downloaded, printed, cut out, and glued together.  The complete set takes twelve hours to construct, and is too delicate to be played with any regularity.  Its inutility makes it similar to “authentic” sets purchased for display only.  The popular game turned souvenir was prohibited in China during the Cultural Revolution.  Its online distribution points to this history and to continuing constrictions while offering a labor-intensive, tongue-in-cheek form of resistance.
