Scores for the City, the second guide produced by the Llano Del Rio collective, is a poster that documents interventions into public space in Los Angeles ranging from rioting to mural production.  Projects described include Superclogger, a puppet show by Joel Kyack presented out of the back of a pickup truck in stationary freeway traffic, and seasonal rituals performed by the Wilshire Witches at the La Brea Tar Pits between 1970 and 1983. The guide, currently distributed in Los Angeles for free, also proposes future action: it invites participation in the subtle body series, an open set of almost unnoticeable movements to be carried out in public places. A section entitled “Performance Scores” offers specific choreography, suggesting alternate methods for occupying the city’s sidewalks and streets.
